Our Facility
GRAND OPENING DECEMBER 1, 2020
We are a CAT ONLY boarding and grooming facility located at the foot of the mountains in beautiful Port Alberni, BC.
We provide service for Port Alberni, and all communities from Campbell River to Duncan.
Our facility consists of 18 large walk in suites to fit your individual Kitty's needs while staying with us.
We strive to keep your feline friend(s) as comfortable as possible whether boarding with us or having a grooming spa day!.
Our staff will work with you to create a routine that is specific to each feline friend's individual needs. We want to make Mountain View Kitty Cottage your Cat's Home Away From Home.
We take your Cat's health and safety into a great account. We have installed a "Negative Pressure Room System" to prevent cross contamination with other guests and have also added a blue UV light system to kill any air born pathogen that could be present. This is only one of the many distinctions we have designed with your Cat's ultimate health in mind while staying with us.

Mountain View Kitty Cottage was an idea and dream for over 10 years. In 2018 that dream became the adventure and reality for owners, Sheena and her husband Wayne.
Hours of planning, and research went into the process of building and producing an environment that would be safe, naturally welcoming and engaging to our feline guests and the people who love them.

Meet The CARE TECHICIAN
Hello, I'm Sheena, owner and operator of Mountain View Kitty Cottage & Pet Services.
I've been caring for animals and many people's Fur Babies for over 20 years. I have done 15 years+ pet sitting in clients homes and working farms, then later moved into veterinary medicine.
In 2006 I graduated from Olds College with a diploma in Animal Health Technology and have been working as a Registered Veterinary Technician for the past 15 years+.
I have a passion for animal behavior, Fear Free practices/methods, biological nutrition for cats and dogs and practice positive reinforcement behavior training with all my Fur Babies ( 3 cats, 3 dogs, 3 horses, 6 ducks, 17 hens and one rooster!).
I have had many people ask why I have such a passion and devotion when it comes to caring for other peoples' Fur Families and the answer is so simple. My whole life I have had the amazing opportunity to build unique lifelong bonds with many different species of animals. I understand the importance of the human/animal bond and the anxiety of being separated from them. I want to give piece of mind to you that your Feline Family member(s) are being taking care of and having both physical and emotional needs met while in our care. We have a lot of clients request daily photos and videos be sent to them through email and Facebook. We are happy to offer this service to help ease that separation period for however long it maybe. If you have any other requests, Please Ask, we will try hard to make it happen!
Boarding Policies
Check-in & check-out
- Check-Ins and Check-Outs are by APPOINTMENT ONLY and can vary. These times are typically between 11:00am to 7:30pm, Monday-Sunday. If you have a specific request, please ask, we do try to be flexible :)
- Please ensure DOCEMENTATION is completed and submitted 2 days prior to check-in date if possible.
- We do REQUIRE 50% deposit at time of booking and the remainder of the BALANCE paid at CHECK-IN time.
- If you need to reschedule or cancel, we have a 10 day cancelation policy for a full refund minus $10 for administration/banking fees.
- Additional services or costs that may occur during your Kitty's stay will be due at time of check-out.
Safety & Welliness
Vaccinations/Titer Tests:
- We accept cats that have their UPPER RESPIRATORY vaccines (FVRCP) up-to-date. Vaccines need to be completed at least ten days prior to check-in. This vaccine is usually every 3 years after the kitten vaccine series are completed. We do require VACCINATION CERTIFICATES from your veterinarian.
- Cats for whom vaccination would be detrimental may be boarded with MEDICAL DOCUMENTION /LETTER from their veterinarian excusing the vaccine.
- Rabies and feline leukemia vaccinations are not required because these viruses are not air-borne diseases.
- We accept Vaccine Titer tests that have been preformed through reputable medical laboratories.
- A copy of your cat's MEDICAL RECORDS is recommended to be stored onsite at our facility. We will always try to make appointments with your current veterinary office, but in cases of emergencies it may not be possible. We want to ensure that your cat gets the best care possible and accurate medical records may help.
Feline Diseases and Medical Conditions:
- For the safety of other feline guests, WE CAN NOT ACCEPT ANY CATS with UPPER RESPIRATORY SYMPTOMS (The typical upper respiratory infection involves the nose and throat, causing symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, conjunctivitis (inflammation of the membranes lining the eyelids), and discharges from the nose or eyes. The discharges may be clear or may become purulent (cloudy in appearance and containing pus). With FVR and FCV, the cat may develop ulcers in the mouth. Other, less specific symptoms of an upper respiratory infection include anorexia, lethargy, fever, enlarged lymph nodes and blepharospasm (squinting). In severe cases, the cat may have difficulty breathing). If a cat comes to the facility with these symptoms we will have to turn them away at time of check in. If these symptoms appear AFTER check-in, the emergency contact person will be contacted for arrangement of pick up and check out ASAP.
- For the safety of other feline guests, We CAN NOT accept cats with a HERPES VIRUS diagnoses.
- We can care for cat's that have non-contagious and controlled medical conditions. We are happy to perform recommended treatments prescribed by your veterinarian and medications required while staying at our facility. There is no extra charge for this service as long your cat is cooperative and doesn't require a second staff member to help.
- Diabetic cats must be well controlled and under regular visits with your veterinarian. Please bring your blood monitoring equipment which would include blood test strips that are not expired, blood control meter, control and needed poke pen or needles.
Travel:
- All cats must be transported into and out of the facility in a cat carrier or fitted harness with leash.
Spayed and Neutered:
- All cats over 6 months of age MUST be spayed or neutered to be boarded.
Parasite Control:
- All cats must have a veterinary recommended FLEA CONTROL treatment prior to check-in. If the next dose of flea control is needing to be applied while staying at our facility, we are happy to apply it. If fleas are found on your cat, a Capstar and Advantage will be given at an additional cost. It is very important to ensure a parasite free facility.
Documentation:
- Please fill out and submit all documentation including wavier, feeding recommendations, medication routine, and vaccine certificates 2 days prior to check in if possible
Kitty Essentials to Bring
What to bring
- Your Kitty's regular food, canned food and treats.
- We supply bedding, litter (two choices), litter box, cat scratching post or kitty hut, food and water bowls.
- Please bring documentation of check-in paper work, vaccine certificate or alternative and medical records.
- You are welcome to bring a special blanket or shirt with a familiar sent from home.
- Special toys/brushes
- Please bring a variety of canned foods, we will feed extra canned food if your kitty is not wanting to munch on his/her kibble. It is important she/he eats a certain amount of calories per day. If your kitty doesn't come with canned food, we will supply it and additional fees will be applied at check-up time.
